CANDLE CARE
Because our candles are made from natural ingredients, they require a little extra love and care. Before you burn, take a moment to review our candle care guide to get the most out of your PLUM candle.
Candle Care & First Burn:
Our candles have a burn time of 60+ hours and can be burned up to 70 hours by following the guidance below.
- When burning the first time, trim the wick to 1/4" length. We recommend using a wick trimmer or a pair of sharp scissors.
- To avoid tunneling (when the entire surface of the candle is uneven), ensure melted wax reaches the edge of the candle jar which usually occurs within 2-3 hours.
- Always trim the wick to 1/4" length before every burn, and do not burn for longer than 4 hours at a time.
- Store candle (with lid on) away from direct sunlight.
Candle Safety:
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Keep candle away from children and pets.
- Only burn on heat resistant surfaces and keep candle away from drafts and flammable objects.
- Do not burn candle for longer than 4 hours at a time.
How to prep candle vessel for recycling or reuse:
Discontinue candle use when only 1/2 an inch of wax remains.
- Put candle in the freezer without lid for a couple of hours.
- Take a spoon and scoop out wax. The wax should be frozen and will be easy to remove. Discard wax.
- If wicks still remain after wax has been removed, pour hot water in the jar and let it sit for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, use spoon to remove the wicks.
- Use a paper towel to remove any residue wax out of the jar.
- Wash jar throughly. Remove candle label and reuse as a vase, pencil holder or organizer, the options are endless!
- If recycling, discard silicone gasket from candle lid prior to taking jar to your local recycling center. Note: candle jars are glass and candle lids are aluminum.
